Santralistanbul from May 22nd to June 21st 2009. This old Ottoman Empire Power Station has been preserved and transformed in 2007 into an Energy museum and a space for contemporary art. Students from
Domus Academy and
Bilgi University have been involved in myDetour Istanbul.
The halls of the ancient Silahtarağa Power Station will dispay 50
Detour artists' notebooks, 30 myDetour notebooks designed by the students of Bilgi University and Domus Academy Milan-Rome, and those by the winners of the
Berlin edition of myDetour. Look
who has participanted.
Between the giant turbines of the power station,
lettera27 presents documentation about its activities and in particular
WikiAfrica Art. In this Turkish exhibition, it will be possible to view the notebooks by
Bili Bidjocka,
Simon Njami and
Abdoulaye Armin Kane. Furthermore, the French artist
Frédéric Keiff, has made available some images of his installation "Arbre à Palabres", which was presented in Douala in the Fall 2007 and commissioned by the Cameroonian cultural association
Doual'art.
lettera27 supports the idea of the "tree of words" by encouraging a wider access and participation to Wikipedia - a new word-making plant that grows in a new African light.
